Review my inn

Again, our thanks for your wonderful hospitality.  We’ve stayed in many B & B’s around the world, and we will count your Traveler’s Inn as one of the best on our list.  Your meals were consistently superb, and  the room both charming and comfortable.  We plan to make your Inn our” home away from home” away whenever we visit Montezuma!

The Traveler's Rest is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are clean and beautiful. The food is incredible! Adele is so nice and has an eye for detail. Our dogs (Mary Ann and Penny) love it there too! It's a great place to stay! We recommend it highly!

Andy & Jennifer Alpharetta, Georgia

Traveler's Rest was the highlight our vacation. As students, we aren't able to afford many excursions, but when we decided to head south for spring break I called up several bed and breakfasts just to see if we could afford a night somewhere. I had spoken to several other bed and breakfasts on the phone but Adele's warmth (and reasonable prices) convinced me that Traveler's Rest was our best bet. We stayed in the Victorian Suite and things couldn't have been more perfect! The room was candle lit and classical music was playing when we arrived. Rose petals were scattered on the floor and across the bed. The spacious bathroom was equipped with any bath and body products we could possibly need from bubbles to massage oil. There was a tv in the bathroom so we could watch movies in the tub (and a nice selection of cds and dvds in the main hallway as well as a microwave and coffee machine among other things). We also had a chocolate fondue with strawberries, marshmallows, and nuts and our kitty who came with us was provided with some yummy parmesean cheese treats. One thing that usually bothers me about bed and breakfasts is the cluttery decore. Not the case here. While every corner, had an interesting accessory or antique, the decorations were clean, well-dusted and not overwelming. Adele, the owner, brought it all together. She made us feel right at home, fixed a breakfast that we both would eat (which is a feat in and of itself), and was helpful in answering all of our questions. (She even took care of our cat while we headed south for a couple days.) We can't wait to get back to Traveler's Rest

AND MUCH MORE .......

Macon County is well known for its many attractions. We are the proud home of the Andersonville National Historic Site and the National Prisoner of War Museum. Many visitors enjoy seeing historic homes on the Historic Driving Tour. Macon County is also home of a large Mennonite community and the world famous Mennonite restaurant, Yoder’s Deutsch Haus.

Montezuma, Georgia’s rich past began with the arrival of the railroad in the town across the Flint River, Oglethorpe, with plans to extend the line through what is now Montezuma. When commercial and residential property owners in the small community of Traveler’s Rest saw that the railroad was to by-pass them in 1851, they moved themselves and their buildings to what was "a low swamp in the midst of a dense thicket of woods, whose solitudes were broken only by the clutter of wild game and by an occasional shot from some hunter’s rifle". Railroads and steamboat trade allowed for the town to grow into a bustling center of economic activity. Hotels, livery stables, cotton seed processing plants, agricultural industries, schools and churches defined the town’s character of rural simplicity and contentment. Much of the activity from the past is reflected in historical downtown. (information provided by Macon County GA website)
